Wind Toys: I have been a woodcarving nut for a long time. I first fell in love with the Wind Toys – jumping, chopping wood and dancing on the fences around Joplin. I used to be a toy designer, but making Wind Toys is more fun.

Fish: I grew up fishing the rivers and lakes of Missouri, Iowa, and Minnesota with Dad. The wooden fish I build are inspired by Dad’s tackle box and the array of his colorful fishing lures.

Birds: I feed birds and love watching them. I hand carve birds from discarded wood and add wings of shaped tin, wire for legs and beads for eyes. Most of the time I get the markings just right.
